I was on a Christmas card making mission last week. The plan was to make one style of card each day for a week, but Halloween interfered with that plan and I only managed to make four different cards. And each card was then replicated three or four times depending on the supply levels. By the end of the week I had fifteen handmade Christmas cards all ready for holiday giving!
To make the creative process a little easier, I consulted my favourite idea machine, Pinterest. When I saw a card or technique that I liked, I recreated it using whatever craft supplies I had on hand.
Monday’s card was pretty simple, but quickly became a favourite!
The next card, found on Pinterest, had a dark blue background, but I didn’t have that colour cardstock. Purple was the perfect alternative! I think I like it better than the dark blue!
Wednesday’s card looked simple, but took me forever to create! I actually spent all day on this one! I guess the creative juices just weren’t flowing that day. The end result is nice, but not one of my favourites.
And finally, Friday’s card! Again, I used my favourite new holiday craft item – the Sleigh Ride Edgelits die from Stampin’ Up. (As you can see, it was used in 3 of the 4 cards!) This card also shows my favourite new technique for making snow: slightly watered down shimmery ink sprinkled on the background with the Aqua Painter brush.
There you have it – four different holiday cards whipped up in one week! I have a few more ideas, so this may not be the end of the Christmas cards quite yet!
