Teacher Thank You Cards

Here in Alberta, schools finish up at the end of June and with that comes the need to give our teachers a big “Thank You”, especially this year! All of the teachers have done an outstanding job moving their classes to online learning and helping the students adapt to a new normal for the last three months.

This year I decided to make several cards, not just for the kids’ teachers, but also the Principal and Vice-Principal. What is more suitable for a teacher’s card but a delightful series of pencils?!

I created these colourful pencil cards for two reasons: to show off the five new 2020-2022 In Colours and to share this cute pencil technique.

The new In Colours from Stampin’ Up! (Bumblebee, Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness, Just Jade, and Cinnamon Cider) are bright, fun colours that work great alone and all together! Each card highlights one of the colours and also shows how well they work with each other.

The pencil technique was a great discovery at this time of year as I was trying to figure out what to do with the long, rectangular striped stamp from Jar of Flowers.

I stamped the striped image, used the Ivory Stampin’ Blend to make a wood coloured triangle at one end of the stamp, then a smaller triangle in Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend to create the pencil lead at the tip. I did a light outline of the pencil tip with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker and shaded the edges with the Ivory once again.

This technique makes some seriously cute pencils!

I added a big “thanks” and “you’re seriously the best” greeting from the retired (but still awesome) Seriously The Best stamp set.

I can’t wait to send these cards off to the school – the teachers deserve a big “Thank You” and so much more!!
