I wasn’t planning on finishing this photo book of our Disneyland trip so quickly, but the printer I use, Adoramapix, was offering 40% off photo books until March 31 so I had a deadline to make!
Sometimes when I create photo books everything just falls into place so easily, and that is what happened with this one. From the very first page I was inspired and knew exactly what I wanted to include in the book.
I took a tour of the Disneyland Hotel and learned about its history and the development of the park itself. At the hotel there was this amazing hand-sketched diagram from the 50’s that was Walt Disney’s vision for Disneyland. I took a picture of it and knew it had to go somewhere in the photo book. Part of it is shown below as the first page in the book along with a quote from Walt Disney on the opening day in 1955.
I started with with 3 basic page templates and arranged them as needed depending on the kind of photos I wanted to use. I mixed and matched templates and altered the sizes of photos so each page was a bit different.
All of the papers and embellishments are from the Magical Vacation digital kit that I made just for this photo book. I was inspired by the fun colours and happy, playful atmosphere at Disneyland and I think that was reflected in the patterns of paper, glitter of sequins, and pop of gold elements.
I scanned most of our memorabilia (tickets, buttons, maps, etc) and included those in the photo book. One of the tickets is shown in the above page and our “1st Visit” button is below.
Even the character autographs were scanned, extracted, and added to the photos.
I started our with 389 photos and only used 88 of our favourite ones in this 28 page, 10″x8″ photo book.
To finish off the book, a page was dedicated to highlighting some of our favourite things.
And the final page includes the other half of the sketch that was seen on the very first page along with a photo from our last day of our vacation.
This photo book turned out exactly how I imagined it would and I think it will be amazing when it arrives from the printers. I can’t wait to to show the kids and relive all those magical moments!
