Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Tip & Technique – Tone on Tone with Stampin’ Blends

Every Tuesday, Stampin’ Up! posts a tip or technique on Instagram provided by a member from the Artisan Design Team – #ADTtipsandtricks. I was lucky enough to get to do the first one for 2021!!

Tips and techniques are discovered either by accident or out of necessity, and this tip was the latter. I had created the background ink blended circle (in Soft Seafoam) for my card and arranged the die cut “Love” with flowers on top. It needed a few leaves to finish it off, but the coordinating Soft Seafoam cardstock just blended into the background. None of the other green colours worked – I just needed a darker version of the Soft Seafoam!

That was when I decided to try colouring the light green cardstock with the matching Light and Dark Soft Seafoam Stampin’ Blends. The dark version ended up being the perfect shade!!

The darker green leaves add just enough contrast to pop from the background.

This trick of creating different tones with card stock will increase the colour possibilities for your paper projects. Give it a try and tag me @ellefedynak if you post it on social media!
