Welcome to Birdwing Paper Designs!! Each month I share avid projects as a part of Stampin’ Up!’s Artisan Design Team. For June, the team is sharing a variety projects using the latest products from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue: Art In Bloom Bundle, Beauty Of Friendship Bundle, and Hand-Penned Suite.

This month I was able to work with the Beauty of Friendship Bundle which is a lovely set of stamps and dies featuring trees.

I wanted to use this bundle in an unexpected way with bright colours and an unconventional use of the trees. The end result was a big pop of colour with Magenta Madness, Highland Heather, and hints of Basic Gray and gold.

The first card used a tree die to cut two pieces from Pearlescent Paper. I coloured one tree with Dark Magenta Stampin’ Blend and the second one with Dark Highland Heather and then spritzed it with some rubbing alcohol to give the mottled effect seen below. The trees were trimmed slightly to give a rounder shape and glued to a blender brushed and stamped background in the same colours. I die cut a piece of Vellum with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies so that the greeting would stand out from the colourful background.

The second card featured a vibrant Magenta Madness cardstock background with white die cut trees arranged sideways to give an unexpected arrangement! This also had a Vellum frame under the greeting and was finished off with Gold Fine Art Ribbon, From The Heart Faceted Gems, and a cute little golden bird!

Wait… a golden bird? How did you make that?! In the same way I coloured the pink and purple trees in the first card!! I created faux gold accents by colouring Pearlescent Paper with a Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and spritzing with alcohol to mix the colour. The gold tone it creates matches the ribbon perfectly!!
