10 Things I Love About You

My husband and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day for two very good reasons. Number one, I worked at a flower shop for many years and that rush of desperate men on February 14 making a bee line for the roses is a memory I will not forget and I never want Jason to be one of those men.  Number two, we met the week before Valentine’s Day eight years ago and he did not call me until the fifteenth just to avoid the big love day.  We laugh about it every year and celebrate the anniversary of our first date, February 18, with a trip to Starbucks and no flowers!

While I was thinking about my husband and explaining to the kids what Valentine’s Day is about, I came up with a great idea for a little photobook, 10 Things I love About You.  I was originally going to make this for Jason, but I couldn’t find ten decent photos of him!  I did find lots of cute photos of the kids, of course, and the idea evolved from there.

I made this photobook for Casey’s fifth birthday which is coming up this spring and has all my favorite photos of him in it.  This would also be a great idea for a baby book. Just add some sweet newborn photos and give them out as gifts to the grandparents.

While I was working on this project last week, one of my favorite designers, Paislee Press, introduced a photobook template called 10 Things which follows the same idea of documenting 10 favorite things, moments, photos, etc.  What a coincidence that we were thinking of the same thing at the same time!  Thank goodness our books are quite different because that would have been embarrassing!!

Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, it is always good to remember the reasons why you love someone and share it with them.
