I would describe myself as a loyal customer. I have been loyal to Adoramapix for all of my lay-flat photo book (38 of them) printing needs for the last four years. I have faithfully ordered photo prints and custom cards from Persnickety Prints since 2011. I didn’t think there was a need for any other printing company in my life until a few months ago I when discovered Ookpix!
Ookpix is a new (new to me anyway) Canadian photo printing company based out of Calgary, Alberta. I love that they are a local Canadian company and I found myself browsing the wall art, calendars and photo books on their colourful website. I wasn’t planning on buying anything, but I wanted to because they offered free shipping anywhere in Canada. And even better, they were offering 40% off anything in their store!
We just had family photos done in the fall by Baby Bee Photography and were still figuring out what to do with the images. We decided to take advantage of the Ookpix sale and ordered a 16″ x 24″ canvas print of one of our favourite photos.
This was the first time we have experimented with canvas for our home (we are usually black and white photos in silver frames kind of people), but for the price and free shipping, we were willing to give it a try! The ordering process was easy and our new canvas arrived 10 days later. I was so nervous opening it up and my first reaction to it was how big we all looked! Previous to this picture the largest photo on display in our home is an 8″ x 10″ photo of the kids, so seeing us all at 16″ x 24″ was a bit of a shock! Now that I am used to the size and have found the perfect spot for it, I love this picture!
At the beginning of December they had a 2 for 1 special on their calendars, and since I had such a good experience ordering the canvas, I decided to order their 5″ x 6 1/2″ desktop calendar. I chose 12 photos (one for each month) from the same group of fall family photos and designed a cover for it.
This photo is my absolute favourite:
This calendar is the perfect size for a clutter-free desktop and I love having all these great photos of our family in one place. The only thing I wish Ookpix would do is offer different fonts for the months and dates. I would have preferred to use a different font for the months and the dates are really tiny to see unless the calendar is right in front of you. Hopefully, that is something they will be able to offer in the future.
As for the photo books, I am quite loyal to Adoramapix so I don’t think I will be trying the books from Ookpix unless they come out with a lay-flat book.
I will definitely be ordering from them again and it may be another giant canvas whenever they go on sale.
Go check out Ookpix and support a great Canadian company.
