After a very cold February and beginning of March, the weather seems to be warming up and the snow is starting to melt! At this time of year, any small signs of spring gets us hopeful that winter is over! To celebrate the changing season, here is a set of cards that will have you dreaming of spring…
These cards were made using the Blissful Blooms Paper Pumpkin Kit (August 2018) from Stampin’ Up!.
As usual, I didn’t follow the suggested designs that came with the kit, but instead used alternate instructions provided by Stampin’ Up! to double the number of cards made from the kit. The instructions required cutting up the pretty floral card bases and using a few extra supplies (which I already had on hand).
I would never have thought to cut the floral paper in half to make two different cards, but this worked beautifully. The other floral paper was also cut in half, but then fussy cut to give a more organic border.
This set of cards incorporated lots of layers to give a whimsical, gardeny style. I love the colour combinations used in this kit… Blackberry Bliss, Flirty Flamingo, Lemon Lime Twist, and Old Olive. (And then I also added Powder Pink, Rich Razzleberry, and Melon Mambo.)
Making these cards taught me to look at designer paper differently – you don’t have to use them as they are. Think outside the box of how you would normally use it and you may discover a beautiful new technique!
