One of my favourite items from Stampin’ Up!‘s 2019 Holiday Catalogue is the specialty designer series paper, Feels Like Frost. It is a double sided patterened paper with sparkly silver and white designs on one side and winter themed photorealistic images on the other side.
When I flipped through the papers for the first time, two scenes caught my attention immediately and I knew I had to save them for a special project!
Both of these papers are gorgeous and I didn’t want to cut them up at all! Instead of making cards, I decided to use them to create winter decor pieces for the home.
The first piece uses the blue winter paper in its full 6″x6″ size adhered to a 1.5″ thick wood block. (The wood blocks can be found at any craft or art store.) The edges were also covered in the silver and white stripe patterened paper.
I then decorated the front with a vellum wreath and other die cuts from the All Around Wreath dies. It was embellished with snowflake sequins and a few other retired products: snowflake trinkets, silver sequins, and corduroy ribbon.
The second wood block used the colourful snowy trees paper. This one used a 5″x7″ wood block which meant I had to cut 2″ off from the bottom of the beautiful paper to create a 4″x6″ piece. Not to worry though, I only cut off extra snow in the foreground!
To cover the background of the wood block I adhered a piece of Whisper White card stock that was decorated with white sparkle washi tape. I left the edges raw this time as I liked the look of the blond wood with this colour scheme.
I went with a simpler design of gold emboss using a sentiment from the Everything Festive stamp set, gold thread and sequins, wooden snowflakes (retired product), and more of those cute snowflake sequins.
Because the wood blocks were so thick, these winter decor pieces stand on their own. They would look amazing on a mantle, bookshelf, or desk.

Have fun holiday crafting!!
