Valentine’s Day is only 10 days away and now is the time to start thinking about cards for the kids to take to school. Since I am in the card and paper craft business, my kids like to make their own Valentine’s Day cards and take special pride in creating them for their friends. This year we decided to make sporty Valentine’s Day cards!
In the 2019 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue there was a winter figure skating stamp set, Freeskate, that I bought especially for my daughter. It came with a sentiment, “you make my heart spin”, which was perfect for a figure skating Valentine’s Day card!
I used the same size small cards (2.75″ x 4″) as in last weeks blog post with the Ladybug Valentine’s Day cards. The photo below shows how much smaller they are from the standard A2 size card I usually make. This is a great size for kids to make for handing out at school.
For my son, I didn’t have a hockey stamp so I went with his second favourite sport, golf. I used the Country Club DSP from the Mini Catalogue as the background with the golf stamp from For The Win as a top layer. I wasn’t able to find a good, pun for this card so I made one up and printed it out on cardstock!
Soccer is also a favourite sport in our house and with the kids’ friends, so I designed a soccer Valentine card using For The Win stamp set again. This one is super easy to make as it only requires simple stamping and a die cut or punch for the soccer ball.
Sporty Valentine’s Day cards are great for older kids and for boys. My 11 year old son wasn’t too keen on giving out cards this year, but changed his mind when he saw these fun sporty cards! Now he can’t wait to share them with his friends!
