Welcome to Birdwing Paper Designs!! Each month I share creative projects as a part of Stampin’ Up!’s Artisan Design Team. For July, the team is sharing a variety projects using new products from the Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue: You’re A Peach Bundle, Quiet Meadow Bundle, and Sweet Symmetry Suite.
This month I had the opportunity to work with the Quiet Meadow Bundle which is a beautiful set of stamps and dies complete with wildflowers, butterflies, and sweet sentiments.
For this project, I wanted to show a technique for making your own ink blending stencils and then decorating that stencil to use on a second card!
The flowers in the Meadows Dies make for great silhouettes and I used one of them to create an ink blended background. I die cut the flower from Thick Basic White Cardstock and used the negative piece as a stencil for ink blending with Evening Evergreen ink. The background paper that was used is actually the front of an Ombre Gift Bag cut to 5.25″ x 4″ to fit on the matching Evening Evergreen card base.
On top of that background I added gold emboss using the splatter stamp from Quiet Meadow and a Basic Black die cut flower and butterfly.The hints of Pale Papaya in the finishing touches make for great contrast with the green.
When I was done with the stencil it looked so pretty with the green ink smudges on it, I just had to use it for a second card. I simply added a few stamps and white splatter to give it an artsy look!
I used the Pale Papaya Ombre Gift Bag as the background on the second card and added a hint of gold with the Gold Metallic Specialty Paper. The leftover stencil was trimmed to fit the card base and the white flower added back into the negative space.
To finish off this card, I added a piece of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon behind the sentiment. The ribbon was coloured with Dark and Light Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends to create an ombre effect. To smooth out the colours on the ribbon, I spritzed it with a bit of Rubbing Alcohol after it was coloured.

I have this set on my order sheet for my next order before I saw your cards – I love both of them and can’t wait too make them – I may have to go over the instructions again and make sure I get each step correctly done.. just wondering if you do videos on your card making – this would be so great and watching the process of you making the cards would be more easier – have a great week and looking forward to your next post.

I wish I did videos!! Or… I wish someone would make the videos for me!! I find my creative process is all over the place and my finished product looks nothing like what I started out making. And I just don’t have the time (or patience) to recreate it for video. I find it easier to take a quick picture as I go and post those. Maybe one day I will get going with the videos!! Thanks for the suggestion though!

I know how you feel – what I have in my head and what I want to create – never comes out at all – it seems to end up the total opposite – its when I follow a video I get things good – except in the end it will look different due to not having the same color or design paper they have – have a great day
