Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and the stores are filled with chocolates, cards, and trinkets for kids to give out at school. Pinterest is exploding with handmade Valentine’s Day card ideas and free printables for those ambitious enough to make their own.
Last year I only had one child in school so made these cute felt lollipops (see blog post here) that took me forever to make. I am not doing that again now that I have two kids in school! This year I decided to choose one great photo of each child and make Valentine photo cards.
The photo cards are sized at 2″x3″ so I could print two copies on one 4″x6″ photo.
Of course, I couldn’t stop there…
…I had to make them just a little bit fancy! I cut some card stock to put behind the photo, placed it in a clear envelope with home made confetti (i.e. used a hold punch), and finished it off with coordinating washi tape.
Now the kids have some pretty cute, personalized Valentine’s cards to hand out to their friends at school.
This is a great alternative to handing out candy and the kids love having their pictures on the cards. What do plan to send with your kids on Valentine’s Day?
