After taking a break from crafting over the summer, I feel more inspired and energized than ever before. I was looking through my vast selection of craft supplies last month and was overwhelmed with ideas for cards, albums, and home decor projects. I found so many treasures hiding at the bottom of my craft storage area that I thought to myself, “I need to start using up some of these ribbons, papers, and embellishments”.
Since I am back to making cards on a monthly basis this was the opportune time to start clearing out the old craft supplies. This month’s card used up a little bit of everything to create a multi-layered fall thank you card.
The first part of this card actually didn’t use anything I needed to get rid of. In fact, I had to borrow the stamping ink from a friend (Thanks Rene!!) because I didn’t have the right shade of yellow! But I did use the Autumn Accents die from Stampin’ Up which hadn’t been used since last fall. The stand out layer of the card was this beautiful stamped and sponged leaf.
Once I had that completed it was just a matter of finding leftover patterned paper with nice fall colours ( Best Year Ever designers series paper from Stampin’ Up, 2015) and dry embossing white paper to add texture to the layers. I also found some cute butterfly brads (Everyday Enchantment also from Stampin’ Up, 2012) and gold zigzag ribbon. The ribbon, believe it or not, was leftovers from an old skating dress my mom made for me back in the early nineties! I did mention that I had a lot of old craft supplies!!
Here is a close up of all the layers… (I counted eight in total!)
…and the final card:
It was a good start to using up some of the craft supplies, but there is still a long way to go. I can’t way to clear out those drawers so I can fill it with new product!
Enjoy the final days of fall!
