Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team – Butterfly Bouquet

Hello!! I’m Leah from Edmonton, Alberta and welcome to Birdwing Paper Designs! You may have heard that Stampin’ Up! is offering a sneak peak at a new collection from their upcoming 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue… the Butterfly Bouquet. Being on the Artisan Design Team I had a chance to play with this set and come up with an inspiring project for you!

The Butterfly Bouquet consists of the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle (Item# 155821), Butterfly Bijou DSP (Item# 156824), and Natural Touch Specialty Paper (Item# 156825). These products are available for pre-order by Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from February 2 – March 1, 2021 and available to all customers starting March 2, 2021.

As you may have noticed from my website, I am a big butterfly enthusiast. In fact, I studied Entomology during university and worked at a butterfly garden in Kelowna, BC! So when I saw this set, I was in love!!

The entomologist in me wanted to make the butterflies look real, but the artist wanted to have fun with colours. And guess which side won…

This colourful card is filled with butterflies, but what you may not notice is all the layers I used to create it. I started off with a hidden white layer that was stamped with all the butterflies in different colours.

Then, using the largest of the Brilliant Wings Dies, I cut out all the butterflies from a 4 3/4″ x 6″ piece of Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper (DSP). I used the negative piece on the card and saved the cut out butterflies for another project that I will share in March. (See Butterfly Bouquet Part 2 post)

Next, I used the detailed butterfly dies to cut out one of each colour of butterfly to match the stamps above: Blushing Bride, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, Magenta Madness, Bermuda Bay, and So Saffron. To give a little sparkle, I also added an assortment of sequins to the body.

Now I had all the components for the card ready and just needed to assemble it on a large 5″ x7″ Pool Party card base!!

Because the card was so large, I also made a custom envelope from the Natural Touch Specialty Paper. The dimensions of the envelope can be seen in the photo below and start with a 9 1/4″ x 11″ piece of paper. Once all the notches were cut out, the corners were rounded using the corner of the Everyday Label Punch.

To complete the envelope, a few custom stamps were added using the DSP, butterflies, and Posted For You Punch.

This card incorporated a lot of techniques with the new Butterfly Bouquet and I hope you are inspired to try some of them!

This is a limited, early release of these products and they are currently only available for pre-order to Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. If you aren’t yet a Demonstrator, please contact me to find out how to become one and the benefits that come with it, including being able to order products early!!

Have a great week!

Leah
