Right now in Alberta we are deep into winter and everything outside is covered in snow and ice. It’s the beginning of February and I am dreaming about my garden and wishing there were some spring flowers in it! Well, since I can’t get into the garden quite yet, then I’m going to add spring flowers to my cards!! Thanks to Stampin’ Up!, this is easy with the Daffodil Daydream Bundle.

I created these cards for the February Artisan Showcase featured on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook Page and used the brightest spring colours I could find!
For the Magenta Madness Mother’s Day card, I used a fun new technique on a brand new type of paper, the Mother of Pearl Specialty Paper. I die cut a few petals from the paper, coloured them with Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends, and spritzed with Isopropyl Alcohol to create a glittery watercolour effect. I did the same technique but in Granny Apple Green for the leaves and simply cut the petals apart to make 3 small leaves. For the card, I made 4 sets of magenta petals (2 for each flower) and 2 sets of green petals (cut to make 6 leaves).

The flowers were arranged on a stencilled, ink blended background that was also heat embossed with gold splatters. I used the new Butterflies and Flowers Layering Decorative Masks and blended Granny Apple Green ink in two separate layers. I didn’t worry about the little bit of ink that got on the card on the left hand side because it was going to be covered by a flower anyways.

I finished off the card with an Opal Round embellishment for each flower, gold trim, and a Mother’s day greeting embossed in white on black card stock.

Here is a video tutorial for how to make this card:
The second card also had an ink blended background but used a different mask from the same collection as the above card. I kept this one fairly simple with the daffodil stamps coloured in using the Stampin’ Blends, and die cut with the Daffodil dies. I added a pop of Magenta Madness for contrast and finished it off with a few more Opal Rounds, gold trim, and an Easter greeting.

The Daffodil Daydream Bundle is perfect if you have been dreaming about spring but know it won’t show up for another 3 months!! I will be making paper daffodils until I see them in my garden!!
