Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team – Sweetest Christmas Suite

Welcome to Birdwing Paper Designs and to the start of holiday card season! October is the month that I officially drown myself in Christmas cards. Last year I made over 800 cards, so it is very important to get a good start in October!! I definitely won’t be making that many cards this year because I just went back to work in August and I’m trying to juggle card making with a new job!

I was very excited to get the chance to work with the Sweetest Christmas Suite Collection from Stampin’ Up! for the October monthly project for the Artisan Design Team. This collection is so full of Christmas and I ended up making several cards with all those sweet candy canes. (Visit my Stampin’ Up! store to purchase.)

Since this collection is all about Christmas, I used traditional holiday colours (Real Red and Garden Green) and added a hint of Pool Party. The light blue compliments the red, white, and green so well. Then to make the greeting pop from the busy cards, I added them in black.

For the first card, I had to use those delightful candy cane die cuts with the Sweetest Christmas DSP. I love it when the dies cut out images from the patterned paper – it makes card making so much easier!!

The second card was a bit more time consuming with the glittery background. I used the striped die cut to cut both the Real Red and White Glimmer Paper and combined them to make a show stopping background. I then created a tag for the front of the card and used vellum underneath so it would stand out from all the glitter.

QUICK TIP: If you have great leftovers (like I did with the striped glitter paper), then make a second similar card right away while all your supplies are still out! See both cards below:

I know I will be making more cards with this Christmas collection, so be sure to follow my Instagram account @ellefedynak to see more samples over the next few months!! If you want more inspiration with this bundle, be sure to visit the Stampin’ Up! Facebook Page and see what the other Artisan designers have created!
