It’s Never Too Early For Christmas Cards

I know most people don’t think about their Christmas cards until December, but I am not like most people.  I feel like I am behind if I haven’t designed my cards by September.  For the past ten years I have been sending out handmade Christmas cards, but this year I decided to evolve with the digital age and make my own family photocards.  I wanted to make one that didn’t look like any other photocard I had seen and when I saw a Photoshop chalkboard tutorial, I knew this was the beginning of my holiday card.

Chalkboard Christmas

Of course, I couldn’t stop there!!  I couldn’t just design one photocard!

Happy New Year

Kitta gave me this photo to use in their family photobook, but as soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect for a holiday card.  I am in the process of designing two more holiday photocards and they will all be available for order soon with your own family pictures.  I just wanted to give you sneak peek and get you thinking about those Christmas cards!

I will also be offering traditional Christmas cards and once I have finished designing those I will post them with prices too.

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather!

Time to Think About Christmas

I know not everyone is ready to think about Christmas yet, but I have been thinking about it for over a month already.  Our community league has a Christmas craft sale in November and this year I am hoping to sell some of my paper crafts.  I can’t really sell photobooks since those are custom made, but I am hoping the craft sale will give me an opportunity to promote my photobook business while selling other paper products.  I am still in the brain storming phase for the paper crafts and will post some samples as soon as I decide what I am making.

In preparation for this craft sale I decided to make some new business cards.  I have been wanting to do this for a while but never saw anything that I liked.  Thank goodness for Pinterest!!  I saw these beautiful DIY business cards and had to make some of my own.

I found the kraft labels from Martha Stewart at Staples and the paper is from a few local scrapbook stores.  By making my own, I am able to change the style of the business cards anytime I want and not have 200 old cards lying around!

I will keep you posted about the products I am making for craft sale and if anyone has any ideas I would be more than happy to hear them!

December Daily

I saw this great idea on dailydigi.com to do a scrapbook page every day for the month of December to highlight all the wonderful things you do for the Christmas season.  Thankfully I came across this Nov. 28 so I had time to think about this project before December arrived.  I looked at some ideas on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/dailydigi/daily-digi-december-daily/ and decided to to keep it simple since I have to find time to do a page every day.  Here is the page for today, December 9:

I wanted to post this picture of the wreath I made because I have had a few people ask how to make it.  I saw the idea for this yarn wreath with felt flowers in the Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts issue.  Here is a link to the instructions on how to make it:  http://www.bhg.com/christmas/crafts/white-yarn-christmas-wreath/.  I also made one out of burlap for fall and it is much faster to cover the wreath in burlap than white yarn!!  I do love the look of the white yarn, so I am glad I invested the time to try it!

New Product: Kids Room Art

I have been thinking about what new product to showcase for Christmas.  Lots of ideas ran through my head, but I decided to do personalized art for kids rooms.  The elements of the page stay the same, I just change the photo and name to your child.  I have a couple ready to go-one for a boy, a girl  and one for christmas, 12″x12″, printed professionally, and just needs to be put in your favorite frame.

If you are interested in ordering any of these, they are $25.00 each.  You can contact me at lfedynak@gmail.com and I will give you all the details I need to know.  Just be sure to order before November 1, 2011 to make sure your picture is here for Christmas.

The wall art I have for the boy was inspired by this kit called “Monsters Under My Bed” by Micheline Martine of After Five Designs and I knew this would be perfect for a little boys room. (Most of the pictures in my samples are my kids, but I change up the name so I am not always making pages with Casey and Robyn on them.)

For the first girls art I had to do something pretty, pink, and flowery.  This page uses digital designs from Biograffiti with a kit called “Baby Love”.

This Christmas inspired page was actually the first one I made (since I was thinking of Christmas projects).   I used a kit that I love called “Adorned” from Paislee Press-it is a little christmassy without being over the top.  This is the only one I have framed, so I took a picture to show you what it looks like in a frame.  (Sorry for the poor photo, eventually I will get a better camera!)

I hope you like these products and I am working on more wall art sized at 8 1/2″ x 11″.   Suggestions for themes are more than welcome and if you have a specific theme you would like, just contact me at lfedynak@gmail.com.
