Wall Art for Grandparents

I have had some great feedback on the wall art projects and one of the suggestions was to make one for grandparents with pictures of all the grandkids.  This project can take up to eight black and white photos and for this example I just used photos of our family.  I think I may have to make one for my dad with all of his grandkids!  The accent colour can also be changed to almost any colour to suit your decor. This page will also be $25.00 for a 12″ x 12″ size.

elements from Stampin' Up and Micheline Martin's "The Classic First Year", layout idea from Paislee Press

Another suggestion I had was to have the pages printed on canvas so they can be hung directly on the wall.  I have been looking into this and decided to try placque mounting.   I will let you know how it turns out and if I will be adding this option to the pages.

Have a great week!!

New Product: Kids Room Art

I have been thinking about what new product to showcase for Christmas.  Lots of ideas ran through my head, but I decided to do personalized art for kids rooms.  The elements of the page stay the same, I just change the photo and name to your child.  I have a couple ready to go-one for a boy, a girl  and one for christmas, 12″x12″, printed professionally, and just needs to be put in your favorite frame.

If you are interested in ordering any of these, they are $25.00 each.  You can contact me at lfedynak@gmail.com and I will give you all the details I need to know.  Just be sure to order before November 1, 2011 to make sure your picture is here for Christmas.

The wall art I have for the boy was inspired by this kit called “Monsters Under My Bed” by Micheline Martine of After Five Designs and I knew this would be perfect for a little boys room. (Most of the pictures in my samples are my kids, but I change up the name so I am not always making pages with Casey and Robyn on them.)

For the first girls art I had to do something pretty, pink, and flowery.  This page uses digital designs from Biograffiti with a kit called “Baby Love”.

This Christmas inspired page was actually the first one I made (since I was thinking of Christmas projects).   I used a kit that I love called “Adorned” from Paislee Press-it is a little christmassy without being over the top.  This is the only one I have framed, so I took a picture to show you what it looks like in a frame.  (Sorry for the poor photo, eventually I will get a better camera!)

I hope you like these products and I am working on more wall art sized at 8 1/2″ x 11″.   Suggestions for themes are more than welcome and if you have a specific theme you would like, just contact me at lfedynak@gmail.com.

Last Summer Long Weekend

You don’t realize how short our summer is in Edmonton until it is the Labour Day long weekend.  I noticed more leaves falling off my trees today and I am a bit apprehensive about greeting another cold, long winter.  To fight off these thoughts about snow, we went to the Devonian Botanic Gardens to spend some time in the warm sunshine and wear out the kids.  It was the perfect way to spend the last long weekend of the summer.

How to Use Random Photos

I was stuck for a scrapbook subject for this weeks Project 52 page.  So I took a picture this morning of my two little helpers while breakfast was cooking and planned on doing a page of Saturday morning activities.  When I looked at the photos I had from the past few weeks I realized I had a bunch of cute random photos that needed to be used and the one I took this morning would fit right in.  I titled it “Random Goofy Moments” and it truly reflects that.  We have a lot of goofy moments in this house, but they are usually over before the camera is turned on.  I think it is important to remember all the different moments in a year, not just the ones where you are dressed up!  With that thought, I am going to try to do a page in the near future on the bad, noisy moments that give me a headache just so I can remember in ten years what it was like to have a one and three year old!!

Let the Designs Begin

The new computer has arrived and is finally set up.  Jason and I spent the last two days transferring all my scrapbook files over and thankfully everything works great!  Along with the computer, Jason surprised me with Photoshop Elements 9!!  I was not expecting that at all!  I can’t wait to get it going and learn how to do some cool photo techniques, although I may take a course instead of trying to figure it out myself.

Now that I am able to scrapbook again, I am also busy shopping for new designer kits to use in the photobooks.  I have been looking at so many talented designers and today I bought a kit from Paislee Press called Adorned.  I love it because it is a Christmas kit that isn’t traditional and can be used for so many other occassions.  The page I have posted today is using this kit and my photos are definitely not of the Christmas spirit!

I will be using “Adorned” for a few Christmas projects, so check back to see more of this kit.

Growing Up

I am waiting on a new computer, so I don’t want to do too much photobook work until it arrives.  I have just been playing around with some more Project 52 pages and had to share this photo of Casey.  Just when you think your baby is getting to be so big,  you gain some perspective and realize that he is still a little boy!

Project 52

In January I started a scrapbook challenge called Project 52 which invloves creating a scrapbook page every week for a year.  I have been faithfully doing this for the last seven months and I thought I would start sharing the pages here.

This week we went to this cool dinosaur park just outside of Edmonton called Jurassic Forest. It was perfect for our little kids: not too scary, and a beautiful nature walk.  I would highly recommend it!

In Business

I am offiicially in business!  Well on paper anyway!  I now have my business license and Birdwing Paper Designs is a reality.  I still have a lot of work to get done before I can actually start taking orders for personal photobooks and I will let you know when that happens.

For now, I will leave you with the unveiling of my logo and watermark.
